For all you newbies out there, perhaps we should get you started on a bit of Reacher history, eh? It would be much easier just to read the book, but some things are skipped in there as well. So! Here's a bit of Reacher info for you...
Reachers
Reachers are simply superhumans. No one knows how they came to be or how they've stayed hidden for so long, but it's definately happened. Reachers have the ability to run faster, jump higher, see further, and hear almost everything, depending on their training. They can hide with the silence of an owl's wing and the gracefulness of a professional ballet-dancer when they're just three.
Speaking of ages, Reachers age a bit weird. From 1 to 2 years they're baby-toddler, and suddenly at around 3, a growth spurt happens and they look like 12-year-olds! Because of the strange aging ways of the Reachers, it's nearly impossible to tell who is how old.
The Order
The Order is an organization of Reachers that takes care of things in the U.S.A. There are other, smaller branches of the Order all over the country. In other countries there are other Reacher Organizations that stay hidden. The Order is located on what looks to be a secret base of some sort. They have nothing to do with the American Government, however, and they follow their own laws. They provide housing for all Reachers that wish to live on Order grounds. Reachers are also allowed to live off of Order grounds but still must report to work when needed.
The Order is run by one person, the Leader, and a Director, sort of the Vice President. The Leader is normally Level 30, the highest Level, but is made exception to since the Kimatas have started out young the past several generations. The Leader is, as of now, Kyth Kimata, and Alabaster Kimata, her nephew, will become Leader once he turns 16. Director Yukito will be giving out assignments from his office.
The Order is primarily use for hiding, housing, and training Reachers, but they are also used to fight strange creatures called Cauldwyns. No one is really sure how the Cauldwyns came to be, but they sure are troublesome to humans and Reachers. They can easily snap a human in half in three seconds. Easily. So watch your back.
The Reapers
Not much is known about this band of Reacher that broke off from the Order. They're small as of now, but will grow larger in numbers soon. The Order must protect humans and Reachers against them. The Reapers' main goal is to capture the Ever Power and destroy all humans, since they believe humans are impure. They stay in an abandoned town that they've fixed up enough to be livable, led by a mysterious girl named Whispering Unknown. She seems to be sick and weak most of the time.
Rogues
Rogue Reachers are simply Reachers who aren't part of the Order and don't really live there and doesn't do missions. They're just Reachers trying to live a human life.
Positions
A position is the sort of job you do for the Order. Mission Reachers are the Reachers that go out on Missions and do the really dangerous fighting, such as Kyth and Syn do. Or, you could be an Infirmary Reacher and help the doctors or be a doctor yourself. You have to help take care of the sick, like Hykuma does. Another job is Applicant Reachers, which really means that it's everyone that works in the building, analyzing things, filing paperwork, etc. Or, you could be a Trainee, which is anyone who doesn't have a job but spends their time at the Order training to become better. There is also the Kinjuki position, in which you are required to go to Level 13 and up missions to assist the Reachers. You lead the way to the spot and count the number of enemies that must be destroyed and where they are.
Levels
For every Level, there is a number of Missions you have to do before you can rise to the next one. Of course, since that's much to complicated to explain and then roleplay, we'll make it simpler on here.
Level 0 (Training) - Complete 1 mission to rise to level 1 (Final exam)
Level 1 - Complete 2 missions to rise a level
Level 2 - Complete 3 missions
Level 3 - Complete 4 missions
Level 4 - Complete 5 missions
I know you know where this is going, right? For every Level you are, you have to do one more mission. It's hard, I know. Just keep at it!
Cauldwyns
The horribly nasty creatures that the Reachers often fight. Cauldwyns have large, oval head that sits on a long, slim neck. Their pointed muzzles end in a dark black nose that was always wet. Silky black fur cover its dog-like body, and it has cloven hooves on its back legs and four fingered paw-like hands on its front legs. Large dewdrop shaped black eyes can easily see anything for miles away. Their delicate, leathery ears split in two at the tips and can hear anything from a butterfly farting to a sonic boom. They're about 11 feet tall and weigh nearly a ton. They also like to shoot red/orange beams out of their mouth that basically blows up anything it touches.
Powers
Yes, you knew it was coming. Powers! To start off, there are five powers that you CANNOT use. These are listed here:
- Construction - The basic creation of molecules from nothingness and forming them together to make something. Simply put, you can make anything you want appear out of thin air.
- Destruction - The complete deconstruction of molecules, breaking them down until they're completely gone. Basicly if you touch something it will disintegrate in a matter of seconds or over an agonizingly long period of time, depending on the weilder's decision.
- Blood Control - The ability to take control of every blood cell in any condition. This also means that the weilder can take control of your bosy by controlling the blood that fills it.
- The Ever Power - The strongest power a Reacher could possibly have. It a combination of the three powers listed above and can only exist in the world one at a time. Alabaster Kimata currently holds the Ever Power, but is too shy to use it.
- Mimicking - A power that allows the wielder to mimick another's powers. This power does not exist at all in the Reacher world.
Powers of the Reachers can be anything, but they MUST be specific. There is no such thing as "psychic" powers in the Reacher world. You can read minds, see the future, move things with your mind, but you can't do all three.
