I will fall to the ground . . .

Kyth woke with a quiet groan. Her whole body ached, especially her ears. They felt like they’d been half deafened.
She sat up slowly, checking herself for wounds, bruises, broken bones, anything. Her hands closed around nothingness; she had lost the cure. Kyth let her eyes scan the room. It was made of simple metal, and long chains that had been shackled to her ankles and wrists kept her well away from the door.
No problem, she could just disintegrate them away.
The markings on her hands and legs glowed, but Nyun’s voice echoed through the room, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
Kyth leapt onto her feet, snarling, looking around fiercely. “Bastard!” She hissed.
“Don’t be cruel,” Nyun scolded her gently. “It’s for your own good. Trust me.”
“Let me out, Nyun!”
“Nyun?” He laughed. “Oh, right, you have no idea, do you? Your little friend, Nyun, when he went missing all those years ago, he was killed. I was created to take his place. I am Nyun, but not your Nyun.”
Kyth shook.
“No,” She said quietly. “No.”
Her hands gripped the chains, her markings glowing.
“Don’t try it,” Nyun sighed. “I have the kid.”
“Alabaster…?” Kyth’s voice got dark, and she snarled.
“Yeah,” There was a smirk in his voice. “Here, listen. C’mon, brat, say hi to your auntie.”
Alabaster’s voice gurgled.
Kyth’s fist slammed against the wall.
She had never felt so helpless.
“Just have fun in there until this is all over,” Nyun growled. “And remember, we’re watching you, so don’t try anything funny.”
Kyth sighed in frustration and sat.
What could she do?
Her entire life had been spent toning herself, constantly pushing herself to be a good but strong person. What good was all that if she couldn’t even do what her brother wanted her to do?
“Rynu,” She lifted her head. “Help me…”
Syn was going to die without the cure. Alabaster was in danger of being killed. She was just sitting here, unable to do anything.
Why?
Kyth covered her face in her hands and let out a quiet growl.
Alabaster… You’re the key… I can only hope that you’ll get upset and get out yourself… And once that happens… I… I trust you…
Kyth thought back to Syn. She didn’t know how long she had been out, but she guessed he only had a couple hours left before he went into the coma, and that was when she had left.
She lifted her head. “What time is it?”
There was silence for a moment, and then Nyun answered, “You were out for two hours, Kyth.”
It was creepy. He sounded like normal old Nyun, nothing different.
She closed her eyes.
She had given her first kiss to a monster.
The real Nyun was dead, he had died when he had gone missing for one and a half years. When he had returned… It wasn’t Nyun…
That explained why he had been acting so strange when he had gotten back… From others, he had learned how Nyun acted…
“I’m sorry,” She whispered to the real Nyun. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there… I hope you didn’t suffer…”
She let out a shaky breath.
Her head lowered, and she slumped into a quiet state of meditation.------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What do you mean, she’s gone?” Hykuma asked, staring at Emily.
“Sh-she and Alabaster have gone missing,” Emily sniffled.
the young human woman had come running into the Order building sobbing and demanding to see Kyth, and they had brought her to Hykuma.
“Both of them…?” Hykuma asked slowly. “Any sign of a struggle?”
“N-no…” Emily whimpered, miserable.
“We have to go help her,” Syn said from his beside. His skin was searing already as the chemical began to pierce his pale flesh. He sat up slowly.
“No,” Hykuma insisted. “You have to stay here. You’re too weak…”
“I’m fine,” Syn told her stubbornly. “We have to go now while I’m still strong enough.”
“You can’t,” Hykuma’s eyes were filled with tears by now. “Syn please.”
“Hykuma,” Syn’s voice was stern. “She’s my partner.”
Hykuma trembled quietly. “I’m coming with you,” She told him.
Syn’s head tilted, and he gave a nod. “You’ll stay behind me though, and we’re taking some others.”
“All right…”
Hykuma helped him up, and the two continued down the hallway to a room. When Syn knocked, Vyna answered.
“Syn,” She said quietly, looking at him.
“Kyth’s in trouble,” Syn told her. “You told me Dyn’s powers? We need you two to come along.”
“Okay,” Vyna nodded.
“Meet us at the gate in a half hour,” Syn ordered, and then strode down the hallway, Hykuma following.
She stared at him quietly. Syn was so focused, so strong… He was so intent on saving Kyth.
“Do you like her?” Hykuma blurted suddenly.
Syn spun, looking down at her. “What?” He asked.
“Kyth…” Hykuma whispered. “Do you… Like her…?”
Syn’s head tilted slowly, his white hair hanging ragged in his face. His eyes looked confused.
Hykuma looked down.
Syn’s cobalt blue eyes suddenly softened with realization, and he leaned down slightly. He gently tilted Hykuma’s head up and murmured, “Hykuma, my sweet little petal, you’ll always be mine. No one else can be mine. Do you understand?”
Hykuma looked up at him, tears in her eyes.
“Don’t you dare cry,” Syn hissed, showing his teeth, and he pressed his lips against her, pulling her against his chest.
Hykuma stared in shock for a moment, and then slowly kissed him back.
Syn put his hands in her hair and held her there until he was satisfied. He then pulled away and nuzzled against Hykuma, bending down to lay his head on her shoulder. Hykuma stroked his hair quietly.
“Syn…”
“Kumie,” Syn sang.
“Synnie,” Hykuma mocked back.
Syn gave her shoulder a loving nip.
Don't try to pick me up again.
